Lake Athens
Lake Athens is located approximately 5 miles east of Athens, south of FM 317 in Henderson County. The surface area is 1,799 acres, with a maximum depth of 50 feet, impounded 1962.
The conservation pool elevation is 440 feet above mean sea level. Fluctuation is about 2 feet. The water authority is Athens Municipal Water Authority. There is one open to the public boat ramp at the Lake Athens Marina.

Callender Lake
Callender Lake is a 365-acre lake and 18 feet deep located between Canton, Athens, and Tyler off Hwy 31, 773, and FM 2339. Callender Lake is a constant level lake fed by natural springs and streams.
This lake is a fishing and recreation lake. Large boats are not recommended. There are two gated communities—Callender Lake and Hickory Hills, with different restrictions and requirements.
Amenities include a community center, boat storage, boat launch, park, fishing pier, swim beach with picnic tables, and restrooms.
This is a mandatory property owners’ association. The lake is controlled by a Joint CLPOIA / HHPOIA Fish and Wildlife Committee.
Echo Lake
Echo Lake is a small 500-acre lake with a gated community in Brownsboro in Henderson County. The amenities include an airstrip, horse pasture, gun range, and trails. An 18-hole golf course is close by. No waterskiing or jet skiing is allowed on the lake.
