Lake Fork is located on the Sabine River in Hopkins, Rains, and Wood Counties, 5 miles northwest of Quitman. Surface area is 27,264 acres, maximum depth 70 feet, impounded: 1980. The conservation pool elevation is 403 feet above mean sea level. Fluctuation is 2–4 feet. The Reservoir Controlling Authority is the Sabine River Authority of Texas.

What To Do at Lake Fork?

Lake Fork was designed as a premier bass fishing lake and currently holds records for 34 out of the Top 50 largemouth bass caught in Texas. Timber was left in the lake, and there may be numerous hazards so caution should be used when boating. There are several areas to boat and jet ski, with caution.

There is a semi-private par 71 golf course at the peninsula on Lake Fork.
