Lake Tawakoni is located In Van Zandt, Rains, and Hunt counties, 15 miles southeast of Greenville on Caddo Creek and the South Fork and Cowleech Fork of the Sabine River. The surface area is 37,879 acres, maximum depth is 70 feet, impounded in 1960.  The conservation pool elevation is 437.5 feet above mean sea level.  Fluctuation is 3-9 feet.
