Hide-A-Way Lake is 13 miles northwest of Tyler in Smith county. There are 3 lakes (148 acres, 80 acres, and 7 acres) with around 1,600 homes. There is a gated community, boat ramp, dock, fishing piers, beach, 27-hole golf course, parks, tennis courts, playgrounds, pavilion, picnic area, ball fields, and basketball court, on-site dining, community buildings, and an on-site medical facility. The lake is governed by a board of directors and homeowners association.

Lake Tyler West is 2,224 acres and serves as the water supply to Tyler Texas. Lake Tyler East is an additional 2,276. The maximum depth is 40 feet and the average depth is 17.6 feet. The conservation pool elevation is 375 feet above mean sea level. Fluctuation is about 2 feet. The water authority is the City of Tyler. At Lake Tyler, you can boat, water ski, fish, camp, hike, and swim.
