Forney is located in Kaufman county, 20 miles east of Dallas and 15 miles south of Rockwall. The town is situated along Interstate 20 As of 2016 the population is 19,122. Kemp is on the North side of Cedar Creek Lake. People who travel from the Dallas area visiting Cedar Creek Lake usually first pass through Kemp. It is a 45 minute drive to downtown Dallas and that is what makes this area popular with commuters into the metroplex. The city has a total area of 1.8 square miles of which .01 square miles is water and the rest is land. The City of Kemp is served by the Kemp Independent School District and the Trinity Community College District. You will find acreage, residential, golf lots and waterfront homes.
